Help Us Build the Best Zeek Yet: Community Survey Launching June 23

On June 23, we’re launching the Zeek Project Survey 2025 to understand how the community is currently using Zeek, what challenges you face, and where you want to see the project grow. This survey is a key part of our mission: to develop Zeek in a way that enables the community to deeply understand and defend their networks.

Our community’s feedback is critical. In 2023, the first Zeek Project Survey gave us a snapshot of how Zeek was being used and who was using it. As the network security landscape evolves, we’re ready to go deeper.

This project is great because of the community behind it, and your experiences and feedback are essential to making Zeek better for everyone. In previous years, we primarily heard from long-time users and contributors. This time, we want to hear from an even broader range of voices so we can fully understand what matters most.

Whether you’re a developer, analyst, educator, or even if you’re just getting started, we want your input.

What to Expect in the Survey

The 2025 survey is designed to take about 10 minutes to complete. You’ll be asked about:

• Your experience using Zeek and how you use it in your work or projects
• Your satisfaction with Zeek’s features, resources, and tooling
• How (or if) you engage with the Zeek community
• What you’d like to see next

Every response helps us better understand the community and make more informed decisions about how to support and grow the Zeek ecosystem.

In 2023, we got a valuable snapshot of how Zeek was being used, from deployment sizes to support channels to overall community sentiment. This year, we’re building on that foundation with a more forward-looking, action-oriented approach to guide future development and engagement.
