Hi everyone! I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Community Liaison for Zeek and a non-voting member of the Zeek Leadership Team.

I joined the team two weeks ago, and I’ve spent that time diving headfirst into the community: meeting contributors, listening to feedback, and getting familiar with the many places Zeek lives, like Slack, GitHub, Discourse, and even in critical infrastructure, where it helps monitor and secure some of the world’s top research and supercomputing centers today.

A Bit About Me

Before Zeek, I spent several years in community management, mostly in the world of tech bootcamps. That meant supporting learners, building resource hubs, scaling mentorship programs, and making technical environments more accessible for newcomers and experienced users alike. I’ve always gravitated toward communities where deep technical work meets real-world impact and that’s what drew me to Zeek.

What I’m Focused On

My role is to help ensure that everyone who interacts with the Zeek project has a high-quality experience. That means:

  • Making it easier for new users to get started
  • Supporting contributors and maintainers
  • Identifying and addressing friction points in our community platforms
  • Creating more opportunities for connection, collaboration, and feedback

The Zeek community is full of incredibly smart, generous people and the love for this project is real. That said, I’m already seeing areas where we can smooth the path for users and contributors, especially when it comes to onboarding and support.

In the short term, I’ll be focusing on:

  • Tidying up and improving existing community spaces
  • Creating clearer entry points for new users
  • Gathering more feedback through direct outreach and community polls

Longer term, I’ll be looking for ways to build and innovate–whether that’s new initiatives, better documentation, more visibility into the project’s workings, or other ideas that emerge from you, the community.

I’m also interested in exploring opportunities for Zeek users to connect more meaningfully–both online and in person. We have a history of hosting conferences and meetups, and I’d love to continue that tradition while also experimenting with new formats that meet folks where they are.

Let’s Talk

What’s working? What’s not? What could make your experience with Zeek better? I want to hear from you. You can reach me on Slack (DMs are open!), or we can set up a quick Zoom call. I’ll also be running short community polls in the #general channel on Slack starting this week.

Thanks for welcoming me into this incredible project. I’m here to listen, to learn, and to help make the Zeek community stronger than ever.
