You’re Invited!!

We’re so excited to announce the NEW Zeek Slack workspace: zeekorg.slack.com
Along with this new Slack workspace we are also introducing a Code of Conduct and Slack Channel Guidelines. We’ve adopted modified versions of the Kubernetes Community Code of Conduct and Slack Channel Guidelines.

This Slack workspace will serve as the main communication platform for the Zeek community outside of the mailing lists. The Slack workspace is not intended to take the place of the Zeek mailing list, but to be an additional resource for the community.

It’s important that conversations stay on topic in each channel, and that everyone abides by the Code of Conduct. It is our goal to make sure that everyone who participates in the Zeek community has a positive experience.

If you choose to participate in the Zeek Slack workspace, it’s important that you remember that the workspace is public and searchable. Please be courteous to others and don’t make comments that you wouldn’t say on a video recording or in another public space.

Like the mailing list zeek@zeek.org, you can bring all your Zeek related questions to the Slack workspace. However, please note that GitHub remains the canonical place for recording issues, bugs, feature requests and tracking their resolutions.

The channels #general and #development are generally the best places to discuss any problems you’re seeing with Zeek, unless there’s a more specific channel related to your particular issue (e.g., for a specific subproject). If you believe a subproject needs to be created you can message the workspace admins at @zeek-admins.

We’re thrilled that more than 20 people have volunteered to admin the workspace. And we would like to thank everyone who has offered to help. The Zeek Leadership Team (LT) is currently working on the policy for adding admins.

The Zeek IRC channel will remain available for the next 90 days and we encourage all IRC users to join the Zeekorg Slack workspace. At the end of the 90 days the Zeek LT will review and determine if the IRC channel should remain available.

More information about the Zeekorg Slack workspace can be found in the guidelines documentation. If you have questions about participating in the Slack channel that aren’t answered in this post, please read the Slack Channel Guidelines and the Code of Conduct.

We look forward to seeing you in one of the Slack channels and appreciate your continued collaboration and support. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
